Essie's Autumn 2015/16 collection took a while to land on New Zealand shores but as you might expect with Essie's track record, it was well worth the wait. It's a six piece collection inspired by the glamorous rock groupies and muses that became as legendary as the bands themselves; I have four of these beauties to show you.
Swatch notes: No top coat or base coat used in these pictures.
Leggy Legend
Leggy Legend is a metallic bronze strewn with pink sparks and complimented by a very subtle green shift, which is just visible at extreme angles. It covered perfectly in two coats.
In The Lobby
In The Lobby is a dark plum with a lovely squishy, juicy looking finish. I found this one a little harder to control, it wanted to run into my cuticles despite using thin coats, so that's why my cuticle lines aren't looking too flash! It is a beautiful colour though.
Frock 'n Roll
Frock 'N Roll is a dark smokey brown filled with lilac shimmer, giving it an overall purple cast. It's not a colour I probably would have picked up on my own, but on the nails it looks like an inky night sky - just gorgeous. This was a smooth and easy two coats.
Bell-Bottom Blues
Bell-Bottom Blues is a beautiful denim blue with lighter blue shimmer and occasionally shows a darker blurple at the edges. Mostly in the bottle, more's the pity, but I love it on the nail too. I used two coats.
Nail Care
I was sent the First Base base coat and Good to Go top coat alongside this collection and I'm really enjoying them! First Base provides a smooth surface and has rubber adhesives to grab onto nail polish and help it last longer. I've tried rubber bonder base coats before but First Base has worked better for me than any I've previously tried. Good to Go is an excellent fast dry top coat, it's as quick and shiny as cult faves like Seche Vite and HK Girl and thinner than the ultra plush Gel Setter, so ideal if you don't want your manicure to look thick.
Essie nail polishes are available at Farmers and selected pharmacies nationwide with an RRP of $22.99NZD, while the nail care has an RRP of $24.99NZD.
What do you think of the Leggy Legend collection? Anything catch your eye? My favourite has to be Bell-Bottom Blues, which took me by surprise!
