MAC have a vision for the future and it is spectacularly orange. Their packaging has never been as bright again as it was with 2008's Neo Sci-Fi collection, the retina-searing neon orange polarizing collectors everywhere. Personally, I love it. Bring back the orange, MAC! :D I have two lipsticks from this collection to share with you today.
Swatched on bare skin under daylight bulbs
Formula overview:
The lipstick finishes in this collection were a mixture of frosts, lustres and a glaze, historically not my favourite of the many MAC offer as lustres and frosts in particular can be drying. I didn't have any issues with these two though (a lustre and a frost). Frosts are finely shimmered and mostly opaque, while lustres are usually on the sheerer side with some being more buildable. MAC lipsticks have a vanilla scent.
Electro
Electro is a bright orange with Lustre finish. It's definitely one of the most opaque Lustres I've had the pleasure of trying, gliding on smoothly for a lovely glossy finish, and it wears for five hours on me without drying out my lips or migrating. Love!
Sci-Fi-Delity
Sci-Fi-Delity is described as a 'burnt red with gold pearlized pigments'. It has a frost finish and mostly opaque colour pay off. I hope MAC consider bringing Sci-Fi-Delity back someday because I think it would be completely at home amongst the resurgence of shimmery lipsticks we're currently seeing! The base colour is lightly frosted with larger gold sparkles which catch the light beautifully and it applies smoothly. It lasted five hours on me and wasn't drying.
What I liked:
- Mostly opaque colour pay off
- Non drying
- Wore for five hours
- No feathering/bleeding/migration
- Nothing! Both winners in my book.
