Do you remember the crazy hype when the Alluring Aquatic collection came out? The shiny aqua packaging, studded with faux waterdrops captured the attention of makeup lovers when it came out in May 2014. It certainly shook the cobwebs from my MAC collector instincts, which had been lying dormant after my eldest son was born. I just missed Alluring Aquatic on counters but gradually picked up two of the lipsticks, so let's take a look at them today!

There were five lipsticks in the Alluring Aquatic collection, four new colours and one repromote (Pet Me, Please, which first appeared in Fabulous Felines, 2010). The lipstick finishes in this collection were a mixture of cremesheens, a lustre, a frost and a matte. Enchanted One is a matte and Mystical is a cremesheen; two of my favourite MAC formulas! Cremesheens offer semi-opaque colour payoff and are generally comfortable to wear while mattes are super pigmented and velvety in texture. MAC lipsticks have a vanilla scent.
Enchanted One is described as a 'mid-tone neutral pink'. On me, it's a warm peachy nude which I love - it goes with just about anything! The matte finish is smooth and creamy, it doesn't tug or drag during application and it lasted an impressive five hours without being drying.
Mystical is a 'mid-tone creamy rose' with a cremesheen finish. Leaning on the brownish side of rose, the glossy and semi opaque finish softens the impact of the colour so it would work on a lot of skintones. I quite like Mystical but Enchanted One has rather hogged all the glory in this case!
