Hey lovelies,
I have another gorgeous lippy from Darling Girl to share with you today! As a big fan of liquid matte lipsticks, it was only a matter of time before the itch to try Darling Girl's Pucker Paint Matte Lip Creams needed to be scratched.
Pucker Paints come in double walled tubes which contain 5ml of product and have a traditional doefoot applicator. This is one of my preferred styles of applicator and I find it really easy to use, it does a good job of manipulating the product with minimal streaking.
Enchanted Orchid is described as a 'bright orchid with just enough pink to make it more wearable'. I gravitated toward it because it reminded me a bit of MAC Dodgy Girl (a shade I adore) and in reality they're not too dissimilar. I would say Enchanted Orchid is a touch darker and more purple, if you're looking for the general vibe of Dodgy Girl this would be a great pick.
The colour pay off is lovely, with a thin, creamy texture - definitely not as watery as Lime Crime Velvetines, nor as viscous and mousse-like as NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams or Australis Velourlips. It's a very easy to control formula which dries down to a matte finish quickly, while still gives you enough time to outline and fill in your lips without it bunching up on itself. I applied two thin layers, concentrating on creating the lip shape and lightly filling in on the first, before completely filling in and evening out on the second. Be sure to leave a couple of minutes between layers - I like to keep my lips parted until it has fully set because it retains a slight tackiness before set that will allow it to grab at itself and pull patches of pigment away if allowed to touch (this is pretty common for these types of formulas). There's no tackiness at all once dry, just a smooth, powder-soft finish.
The Pucker Paints do not cling to the lips or highlight every crevice the way some liquid matte formulas do and they're only minimally drying towards the end of wear. Enchanted Orchid wore for six hours on me. There's a very faint, hard to pinpoint, but not unpleasant smell to the Pucker Paints which I don't notice at all during wear. If these were vanilla scented I'd be dead from the sheer perfection of them, so that's probably a good thing that they're not!
A makeup look with Enchanted Orchid
What I liked:
- Great colour pay off
- Easy to apply
- Wears for six hours
What I didn't like:
- Minimally drying towards end of wear
Where to buy:
- Darling Girl products can be found on their website, don't forget that you can use my code LANILOVES to save 10% on your order.
I'm a big fan of these and have already bought more (and my magpie eyes still like the look of other shades!). Have you tried the Pucker Paints?
X
