Hey lovelies,
Quickie lippy review for you today! My friend Annemarie was decluttering and gave me a few NYX lipsticks she no longer wanted. Here's the first of them, Iris from the Round lipstick line.
The NYX Round lipstick range feels like it has been around forever! I remember having a few of them when I had just started making purchases from overseas online (oh, those heady first days! The possibilities of sudden access to a myriad of brands never before seen on in New Zealand stores! The weeping over shipping prices! Okay, I still do that last one), back when they were just $1.50 or $2 a pop and everyone in the blogosphere was talking about them. Now they've risen to $4USD, but they remain an affordable range.
The packaging hasn't changed much over time; what you're seeing above is the original packaging design. Since then the labelling has become a little more streamlined, simply saying 'NYX' without the whirls and swirls. There is a little pottle of colour at the end of the lipstick which makes identifying a colour in a crowded lipstick collection a breeze and the cap clicks on fairly securely. All in all, not terribly exciting, but perfectly functional.
Iris is a peachy nude dominated by golden shimmer; described by NYX simply as a 'peach [frost]'. It's fairly forgiving of lip texture, for a frost, and has mostly opaque colour pay off with a light, emollient formula. It wears for three hours on me without being drying and has an odd, vaguely chemical scent. I think Iris is a shade you'll either love or hate. It catches the light beautifully and is quite flattering but I struggle to get past the frosty finish. What do you think?
What I liked:
- Good colour pay off
- Forgiving of lip texture (not all frosts are so kind!)
- Non drying
What I didn't like:
- Chemical scent
Where to buy:
What do you think of Iris?
X
Lani
