Hey lovelies,
I have a set of Velourlips shades to show you today! As some of you may know I've had mixed results with the formula (HO-CHEE-MIN, RIO-D and MAL-I-BOO have been the worst offenders to date) while others I've loved (Grandmaster Pash, Noo-d Fighters and NY-CEE). Buoyed by the success of the latter shades mentioned, I picked these up when Australis was doing a buy two get one free offer over the holiday period. That kind of promotion does seem to pop up with some regularity, so it's worth keeping an eye out if you like the look of these!
Swatched on bare skin under daylight bulbs, left to right:
PA-REE, LUN-DUN, MI-A-MEE & HON-O-LOO-LOO
PA-REE, LUN-DUN, MI-A-MEE & HON-O-LOO-LOO
I promised not to talk about the hyphenated names this time. I promised. Okay? I-PROM-ISED.
Moving on.
Velourlips are a liquid-to-matte lipstick formula with a thick, mousse-like formula. Thicker than the Lime Crime Velvetines and Kat Von D Everlasting Love formulas, more similar in consistency to NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams but perhaps a bit fluffier and thicker again. Colour pay off varies depending on the shade but is mostly very pigmented and opaque. They have a sweet, candy-like scent.
The packaging is simple and functional; a lip gloss style tube punctuated with a cute heart and lace trim for some extra appeal. Inside is a doefoot applicator that applies colour evenly and precisely.

PA-REE
PA-REE is a neutral nude brown. It applies evenly and has great colour pay off. I'm not sure how well it suits me, perhaps if it ran a bit warmer I'd be more confident about it but nevertheless, I do really like it! PA-REE is apparently a dupe for Jeffree Star Celebrity Skin, although I don't own that to compare. It wore for a little over five hours (including a meal!) on me and was not drying.
*
LUN-DUN
LUN-DUN is a pretty mauve. It's a little bit sheerer than PAR-EE but still looks fine from a normal viewing distance. It wore for six hours on me without drying out my lips. I didn't expect to like it as much as I do, it's just such a cute colour!
*
MI-A-MEE
MI-A-MEE is a super 'me' colour! It's mostly opaque, with a little sheerness coming through where I should have added a second layer, but from a normal viewing distance it's really not apparent at all. It wore for nine hours on me. NINE.
*
HON-O-LOO-LOO
HON-O-LOO-LOO is my favourite from this bunch, even though application isn't perfect - I just love this peachy pink! It is the sheerest of the shades reviewed today and performs best if you apply a layer then leave that to completely dry before adding a second even layer. A little fussy, yes, but worth it for a colour you love in my opinion. HON-O-LOO-LOO wears for four hours on me.
What I liked:
- Most colours had great colour pay off
- Sweet, candy scent
- Wear for four to nine (!) hours
- Non drying
- Some shades are sheerer and prone to streaking
- Farmers (NZ)
- Kmart (NZ & Australia)
- Big W, Priceline & selected pharmacies (Australia)
- Makeup.co.nz (NZ)
- Beautybliss (NZ)
- All Cosmetics Wholesale (International)
What do you think of the Velourlips range?

Hehehe I-Prom-ised made me laugh. I've got Mia-mee or whatever it is and wasn't impressed with it, but then I tried shanghai (like a savage at farmers) and it was really nice, wore much better. I also have noo-d fighters but I haven't even opened it yet. I am so terrible,
ReplyDeleteI couldn't let it slide entirely :D Oh I have Shang-Hi and I must confess I haven't opened that one yet! Hope you like Noo-d Fighters :)
