Hey lovelies,
Sorry for my absence the past few days! I've been swatching, editing and rinsing and repeating the past few days as I've now finalized my travel plans around my wedding in early February and have worked out I'll be away from home for a whole MONTH! Funnily enough, I'm stressing way more about the blog than the wedding, which I'm (currently) super laid back about. That may change as the date draws closer though...
Anyway, hopefully all this work will pay off and you'll barely notice me being away in a few weeks because I'll have diligently scheduled plenty of content for you!
Here's a pretty blush from new-to-me brand Laura Geller which I won in a giveaway a few months ago. This is, I believe, a deluxe mini version as mine is marked 0.06oz/1.8g while the size given on the Laura Geller website is 0.23oz/6.5g. Honestly, that sounds huge! This mini fits comfortably in the palm of my hand and I can't see myself finishing it up anytime soon.
We don't have Laura Geller here in New Zealand so I can't say for sure, but from photos online, it looks like the sample size is identical to the full size, just scaled down. It's a black compact which clasps securely and has a small half mirror on the inside of the lid. The mirror is a little pointless in my view, as being a very small semi-circle it's hard to see your whole face - I'd probably use it to check if there was anything in my teeth more than for any makeup application!
Maui is a deep rosy pink with excellent colour pay off. It has a smooth, silky texture which makes it easy to pick up and apply the colour and it blends out beautifully. I've found that it is a bit more short-lived than I'd like under the heat of my lighting set up, lasting for around five hours. However, it performs beautifully during the day to day, lasting all day with minimal fading. If you live somewhere with very hot temperatures, setting it with a translucent powder and setting spray may be required.
What I liked:
- Great colour pay off
- Applies and blends beautifully
- Lasts all day with minimal fading in normal conditions
What I didn't like:
- Lasts five hours in very warm temperatures
Where to buy:
What do you think of Maui? Have you tried Laura Gellar before?
X
Lani
