Hey lovelies,
I've been going a bit nuts lately, picking up where I left off with my MAC collection before having Noel... and then some. So much that I destashed, sure I'd never have time for makeup again... three and a half years, two children and a beauty blog later, I have major seller's regret!
I've been enjoying photographing and swatching my new acquisitions, but I was of two minds as to whether to review them or not. Because the stuff I've been buying is discontinued and/or limited edition, it's not readily available, so showing it is kind of mean. But then again - and this is something I've been learning in my quest to find these pretties - you never know where things will turn up! There aren't a lot of swatches floating around for some of these items so for those who come across these pretties but can't find swatches and reviews, hopefully these posts will be helpful for them at least. So I present MAC Mondays! Limited edition, drool worthy goodies weekly.
Starting MAC Mondays off with a bang, I have this gorgeous Glitter Cream from the MAC For Playboy collection way back in 2003. My friend Natalia listed it brand new in box for sale at a great price in a local makeup group on Facebook and I dithered for a little bit before buying it. I'd never been a fan of Playboy merchandise - but the packaging was so pretty. Could I really justify buying it just because it was hard to find? It looked so pretty in swatches though. Finally, I decided to just do it. And I'm so glad I did!
Being 11 years old, the box is understandably a little battered.
I love that the inside of the box is metallic pink, this kind of packaging detail just gets me every time!
And those pink bunnies! Even my heart melted.
There's a slightly raised bunny imprint in the glitter cream which is a cute touch. When you look at it directly it's very subtle, but as you tilt it, it becomes easier to see.
Swatched, the Glitter Cream feels like a slightly drier version of MAC's Cream Colour Bases. It's lightly creamy, not overly emollient and has flecks of shimmer that gleam in the light, yet they're not overpowering.
It has good colour pay off and is both buildable and easy to blend. I was super impressed with the wear time, particularly for a cream product. After 7 hours it was still visible on my cheeks without any fading.
A FOTD with Playmate Pink (to highlight cheeks)
Playmate Pink still going strong at the end of the day!
- Provides a dewy sheen without venturing into disco ball territory
- Easy to apply with fingers or a stippling brush
- Great lasting power - going strong after 7 hours
