Hey lovelies,
If you like my Facebook page, you've likely already seen a preview of these awesome Essie shades when I trialled a wee bit of nail art. Unfortunately I've been so busy the past two months, I haven't had a chance to sit down and make a proper go at a full nail art mani but I hope to remedy this soon! So much to talk about in a life update post, which I must also do soon.... blogging fails aplenty, thank you all for your patience and for sticking around!
What I did manage, however, was to do some swatches! Hooray! If you've been living under a rock, Essie have recently relaunched in New Zealand which is amazing news! I still have and love my first Essie polish, Cute As A Button, bought years ago when Essie was this beautiful rare thing in New Zealand. I bought it from a US blog sale and secretly felt rather posh whenever I (badly) painted my nails with it. Seriously, I found some old mani photos recently guys and they. Are. AWFUL.
I like to think I've gotten better at polishing my nails though, so let's look at some swatches!

Splash of Grenadine
Essie - Splash of Grenadine, 2 coats
Splash of Grenadine is bang on trend for the Radiant Orchid theme we've had this year. I feel like this was known as a trickier formula back when it was originally released years ago, but the formula may have been tweaked over time as this was just two easy coats.

Play Date
Essie - Play Date, 2 coats
This was my surprise favourite from today's trio! I'd lusted after Play Date after seeing Annemarie's (Gimikd Girl) swatches but was convinced this warm purple wouldn't flatter my skintone. I'm glad to be wrong though as I absolutely love it! This was another two coater.

No More Film
Essie - No More Film, 2 coats
No More Film is a step away from the bright purples and into inky indigo. It's a completely dreamy and very grown up hue and I have to say I love this too. As with the others I only needed two coats! I do have Essies which are 3 or 4 coaters or have trickier formulas but these three were honestly a dream to apply. I'd highly recommend any of them.
Essie is available in selected pharmacies, Farmers and department stores nationwide with a recommended retail price of $22.99. There are often great specials on too, so keep an eye out!

Lani
Essie reformulated a few years ago I think, to take out the formaldehyde, etc, so I wonder if thats why the formula feels a bit different?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colours, by the way! Love purple.
Thank you! I bet that is the case.
