Star Kin Swatch Spam!

Hey lovelies,

I have swatch spam for you from the awesome NZ indie brand Star Kin today!

Some of these polishes have been provided for review, and are marked with an asterix. My opinions are  honest and are my own. Top coated swatches are noted :)

Star Kin - Pure Bling, 3 coats
+
Glisten & Glow HK Girl Topcoat

Pure Bling is a silver foil polish packed with different kinds of holographic sparkle. It dries with some texture but smooths out nicely with a thick & glossy top coat like Seche Vite or HK Girl.

Star Kin Purple Haze, 3 coats

A delicious dark purple with holographic shimmer. Absolutely fantastic formula, I love this one!

Orly Mineral FX - Rococo-A-Go-Go, 2 coats
+
Star Kin - I <3 Hades, 2 coats
+
Glisten & Glow HK Girl Topcoat

I <3 Hades is a gorgeous purple jelly with the perfect mixture of metallic and holographic red glitter and hearts! I couldn't get enough of this one and wore it for several days. I really like the shimmer of Rococo-A-Go-Go peeking through the jelly, but it builds up nicely on its own too.

In the shade - look at that squishy goodness!

Star Kin - Flock Together*, 3 coats

Flock Together is a white crelly with rainbow hexes and bar glitter! How fun is this? Opacity and glitter distribution was really good too. This polish is like having birthday cake on your nails, only not as messy.

***

Star Kin - Cashmere, 3 coats

Blues in this vein don't usually work on me, but Cashmere is just so cuddly and sparkly that I am defying the laws of colour and wearing it anyway. Formula was pretty good, I may add a little thinner as I did find it wanted to get a little lumpy on my middle nail. Fantastic opacity for a paler colour too.

Star Kin - RS, 2 coats
+
Glisten & Glow HK Girl Topcoat

RS. Ohhh RS, you sexy thing. One of my first Star Kins when Ami and Annette first opened up shop, I finally bought a bottle and only regret waiting as long as I did. Everything about this polish is perfection - opacity, colour saturation, holo sparkle.

Star Kin - Moss, 4 coats

Moss is a pretty yellow leaning green holo. The holographic effect is fantastic, but it was a little sheer for my tastes.

***

Hello Kitty - Shop Teal You Drop, 3 coats
+
Star Kin - Aqua Entropy*, 1 coat

Aqua Entropy is linear holo topper in a sheer aqua base. I wish I'd chosen a more subdued base colour for this one - as much as I love Shop Teal You Drop, I feel like it overwhelms Aqua Entropy. The formula was great; really easy to work with and a nice holo effect.

Color Club - Ready To Royal, 3 coats
+
Star Kin - Mega Melon, 1 coat

Mega Melon took me a while to figure out what to pair it with - I didn't want to put it over black because then you wouldn't be able to see the black glitter. I tried layering over green but the base is tinted purple so that didn't quite work. Finally I settled on Ready To Royal, a vampy shade walking the line between black and purple. Formula, application and glitter distribution were all fantastic, there was no need to prod glitters around or anything. Lovely!

Star Kin - Pink Lemonade Fizz*, 3 coats

Pink Lemonade Fizz is a gorgeous pink crelly peppered with yellow and pink glitter. Application was great, especially for such a light shade. Once again, glitter distribution was great. This shade was custom created for Charlotte over at Painted Talons NZ.

Star Kin - 537 Bottles, 3 coats

Gosh I love this polish. It's not as complex as other Star Kin shades, it's a classic beauty, and we all need those in our collection! Gold flecked raspberry goodness that builds up perfectly in 3 coats.

***

Star Kin - Nest*, 4 coats

Nest is a gorgeous dusty grey-leaning blue packed with gold flakies. It also has subtle holo shimmer. Nest is a little sheer, but builds up nicely. The review minis are in the same bottles as OPI minis, and I always finds this reduces the opacity a little for me due to the smaller brush - I believe the opacity would be easily 3 coats with a full size bottle.

***

Star Kin FabulousNess, 3 coats

FabulousNess is a custom Ami and I created for my lovely friend Ness' birthday. Ness has a weakness for girly polishes like these and it was so much fun to create for her. Again, Ami made the process so easy and was so patient with all the tweaks. As usual, formula was great - Ami really knows how to do a perfect crelly base - enough opacity to build up in 3 coats or less, but sheer enough for the glitter to peek through.

Essie - Topless & Barefoot, 3 coats
+
Star Kin - Mushroom Cloud*, 1 coat

Mushroom Cloud is such a cool, unique polish! It's a glitter topper with matte white, black and grey glitters that give an almost taupe effect overall. It's a custom created for the lovely Zoe, who has featured on this blog before - Zoe paired it with pink which looks amazing. I loved it over pink and was tempted to try that too but wanted to try another colour, so went with Topless & Barefoot for a neutral combo. Love it! Glitter distribution and formula were both great.

Star Kin - Holiday Dreaming, 3 coats

Ugh, Holiday Dreaming is so gorgeous. A dusty blue packed with iridescent glitter, shimmer and varying copper hexes - I adore the glitter mix and formula, I just wish this shade of blue suited me :'( I have my fingers crossed Ami will make a green version one day because I would adore that.

Star Kin - Shiraz, 3 coats

Another fantastic Star Kin holo, Star Kin really do them well. A gorgeous linear holo with great colour saturation. I need more Star Kin holos!

Star Kin polish is the brainchild of Ami and her mother Annette, along with the newest Star Kin team member, Harriet - all of whom are members of our polish group on Facebook.
