Darling Girl Eyeshadows - Tatti-Too, Turning Japanese, Ginger, Honey Pot and Trek the Halls Swatches & Review

Here's the next batch of Darling Girl eyeshadows to share with you! Some of the shades reviewed below are permanent, while others are discontinued or past COTM (colour of the month) shades, so I'll note their availability with each review.

Darling Girl's eyeshadows come in a few different sizing options: full sizes are packaged in 5g jars with approximately 3/4 tsp of product ($7USD). Petits are packaged in 3g jars with approximately 1/4 tsp of product ($3.25USD). You can also try a sample set, which includes 4 shades of your choosing in baggies, each containing 1/8th tsp for $5USD. I've gone down that route many times as you can get samples of any eyeshadows, Diamond Dusts, Spectral Shifts or loose blushes, excellent if you want a great cross section of colours and formulas to try!

Formula overview:
Darling Girl's eyeshadow formula is incredibly consistent. I've never come across a dud in the range; they are, on the whole, very pigmented and easy to work with. Some shades, especially the more glittery ones perform best over a sticky base but can certainly be used on their own.

Swatch notes:
All eyeshadow swatches in this post are done two ways: applied on bare skin on the left-hand side and over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, a sticky eyeshadow base which maximises colour intensity and sparkle, on the right. This is so you can see how they perform both ways. I take all of my photos with daylight bulbs for colour accuracy.

Tati-Too (discontinued/seasonal?) is a rich copper with pink sparkles. It doesn't matter how many shades of copper Susan makes, I need them all. Tati-Too works best over a sticky base as it's on the sheer side on its own, but check out how metallic and gorgeous it becomes over the Pixie Epoxy! It blends out beautifully. This was part of the Darling Whos Christmas collection, which Susan has mentioned may return during holiday seasons.

Ginger

Ginger (permanent) is described as a 'light peachy tan with soft pink undertones'. A permanent-range gem that I really need to show some more love to! It's a versatile, easy to wear shade with an excellent, silky formula. The satin pink sheen shows up more when applied over a sticky base but it doesn't rely on one to shine.

Turning Japanese

Turning Japanese (discontinued) is described as a 'golden champagne with pink to green shift and green and gold iridescence'. The pink sheen in this really comes out to play the more it's buffed out, I wish I'd discovered this eyeshadow before it was discontinued! The formula is once again, excellent.

Trek the Halls (discontinued December 2015 COTM) is a matte-based warm russet brown with gold & green sparkles. This Star Trek themed eyeshadow was created in honour of all the red shirts lost - you're never in for a good time if you're wearing a red shirt on Star Trek! Colour payoff is lovely and I found it really easy to work with. It wound up becoming part of one of my favourite Darling Girl looks ever!

For this look I used Tati-Too on the centre of the lid, Trek the Halls on the outer third, Ginger on the inner third, Turning Japenese on the inner corner, #breaktheinternet as the transition and Heroes on the lower lashline. I also used the Lorac Pro palette for the crease and the false eyelashes are from Born Pretty Store.

Honey Pot (permanent) is described as a 'loud metallic orange-y gold'. Susan wasn't kidding with that description, Honey Pot is positively molten! I wasn't 100% happy with the look below so I'll have to use Honey Pot again soon, probably as the star of the show as I think it demands nothing less. Perfect colour payoff and application with or without a base. Definitely one to add to your collection if you love golds.

I've used Prom Queen on the outer half of the lid here, with Honey Pot on the inner half of the lid and Princess Conseula Bananahammock just above the inner corner. April Showers Spectral Shift was used on the inner corner, Kilt-y Pleasures and Between the Sheets on the crease, #breaktheinternet for the transition, Ginger to blend out and Could I Be Wearing Anymore Clothes? on the lower lashline. The lashes are from QVS.
