Woohoo! It's time for a fresh batch of Notoriously Morbid eyeshadows to swatch and review. All but one of these is permanent (I'll note the limited edition lovely below) so if they tickle your fancy, you can hop on over to the Notoriously Morbid website to pick 'em up any old time.
Notoriously Morbid have plenty of eyeshadow sizing options to suit everyone's preferences and budget. The mini-size ($2.75USD) has approx. 1/3 tsp of product in a 3g jar, the full size ($5.50USD) has approx. 1/2 to 3/4 tsp of product in a 5g jar and the deluxe size ($7.50USD) has approx. 1 to 1 1/4 tsp of product in a 10g jar. Personally, I always opt for the mini size, except where full size is the only option, as it's rare for me to finish an eyeshadow!
Formula overview:
I really enjoy Notoriously Morbid's eyeshadow formula. They're easy to work with, blend well, and are often completely unique to what's being put out by mainstream brands. Some shades, especially the more glittery ones perform best over a sticky base but can certainly be used on their own.
Swatch notes:
All eyeshadow swatches in this post are done two ways: applied on bare skin on the left-hand side and over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, a sticky eyeshadow base which maximises colour intensity and sparkle, on the right. This is so you can see how they perform both ways. I take all of my photos with daylight bulbs for colour accuracy

Battalions of Sorrow
Battalions of Sorrow (permanent) is described as a 'dusty white rose with subtle shimmer in semi-matte finish'. If this eyeshadow has taught me anything, it's that I can't spell 'battalions' for the life of me! I keep catching myself putting in one T and two Ls instead of the other way around. Oh English language, you so crazy. Putting aside my alphabetically-challenged ways, Battalions is part of A Murder of Crows, an eyeshadow collection inspired by The Crow (which I haven't seen - I know, I know). It's an excellent barely-there shade that performs beautifully and will serve as a workhorse for a multitude of looks but in true Notoriously Morbid form, has a sprinkling of blue shimmer to keep things interesting. I highly recommend it.
The Lady Amalthea
Here, I've used Batallions of Sorrow on inner half of lid, Frigid Bitch on outer half of lid and lower lashline, Gypsy Curse on crease, He's Going Through Changes for transition, So Goes My Nation on browbone, The Lady Amalthea on inner corner. The lashes are Ebay faux mink in the style A15.
Nothing Is Trivial
Nothing Is Trivial (permanent) is described as 'a light wash of golden illumination in a metallic finish'. Like Battalions of Sorrow, it comes from A Murder of Crows (I've really got to watch this movie, damn). Under the gold glow, you'll find the palest aqua peeking out, though I did find it was mostly obscured over a sticky base when I used it on the lid. I'll have to try it again as the main shade in a look and see if I can coax more of the aqua out.
Autumn Flower
Autumn Flower (permanent) is described as 'a regal dusty purple with a gorgeous blue/green shift'. A complex neutral lover's dream; this would make an amazing one-and-done look. Without a sticky base, the purple base appears more ruddy, while over the base, the blue/green shift transforms it. Love.
Necrofancy
Necrofancy (permanent) is described as 'a cool dark brown base with a teal and purple overlay.' I can't believe I've only used this beauty once, it's so lovely! The formula performs really well, with the duochrome being a touch more subtle, though still visible without a sticky base, as shown in the look below.
For this look, I used Autumn Flower on the outer two thirds of the lid, Nothing Is Trivial on the inner third of the lid, Saddest Rainstorm patted over top to overlap the two and on the inner corner, Necrofancy on the lower lashline, Live To Serve on the crease, He's Going Through Changes for the transition and So Goes My Nation on the browbone. The lashes are Ebay faux mink in the style A15.
What do you think of these colours?
