Today I have the next three installments of Notoriously Morbid's Mystic Monthly subscription to show you! I'm still really enjoying this subscription, the colours are incredibly unique and though not always ones I might have picked for myself, I find myself liking them all.
Here's the rundown on the subscription:
Each month subscribers receive a full-size Mystic Matte and an additional lip product. The products are exclusive to the subscription, though occasionally overstock is made available on the website and sometimes the products are brand new formulas, so you get a sneak peek of potential upcoming products!
The first year of Mystic Monthly is "The Witches' Inn", with each month's products being based on a famous witch. It comes with an information card regarding that month's inspiration, which is always a fascinating wee read and the subscription is very reasonably priced at $10USD within the US or $16USD internationally (including shipping). The full-size Mystic Mattes are regularly $12USD each and international shipping is usually $10USD so it's a pretty amazing deal in my opinion!If you'd like to sign up for the waitlist, you can do so here.
Formula overview:
These liquid mattes are among the easiest I've used to date, with a thin but easy to control formula and great opacity. Most are opaque in one coat, though they can be layered easily if needed and will not clump, streak or stick to themselves. There's no need to keep your lips parted while they dry, as many formulas require, because of the non-tackiness and fairly quick dry-down, yet they never fully set to a transfer-resistant state. You'll still get transfer with the Mystic Mattes, although obviously less than a creamy lipstick, and they tend to wear away evenly like a regular lipstick, instead of mostly in the centre, as I often experience with liquid mattes.
Some shades are drying but most are more clingy than anything. I did not experience any feathering or bleeding with any of them, they can be smudged if touched or smeared, but will not otherwise migrate. They have a faintly sweet scent.
Packaging:
Mystic Mattes usually come in a 7ml tube with a long slim doefoot that is shaped like a flattened oval. One installment came in a different tube which has an 8ml capacity and a traditional doesfoot. I find both really easy to work with and did not use a lip brush for these swatches.

Mystic Monthly #4 was inspired by Tituba:
Tituba, the first to be accused and confess to being a witch during the Salem trials. She claimed to have practiced rituals to ward against evil. To help Elizabeth Parris, she used one such ritual to make a witch cake. A practitioner of Voodoo or not, she seems to have been the epicenter for witchcraft hysteria in 1692.
Tituba is described as a 'dark purple with red and gold sparkles and a violet red base'. I love purple lipsticks but I don't enjoy how uneven the colour payoff can be, or the hot pink staining that often accompanies them. Fortunately, Tituba had neither of these issues, in fact, it's one of the best purples I've ever tried! It lasted for seven hours on me and wasn't drying. I hope it makes a return some day!
The accompanying product to Tituba was a Night Kiss lip balm, Witch Cakes. It's scented with 'a bakery note and coconut and peaches' which makes for a divinely sweet fragrance, mellowed by the coconut and buttery bakery scents. A welcome addition to my Night Kiss hoard - if you haven't tried these lip balms yet, I recommend doing so ASAP!

The fifth installment was based on Märet, an accused witch in Sweden:
Known as "The Great Noise" witch hysteria, Märet Jonsdotter was the first person to be accused of witchcraft and set off the witch hunts in Sweden which totaled 280 deaths before it was over. One of the witnesses claimed she took her to the devil by rubbing her with cow's milk and red oil.
The accompanying product for this month's Mystic Monthly was a new product trial, a vegan lip balm. The red oil scent is very pretty, scented with red velvet cake, buttercream and berries, with the berries being the strongest note to my nose. Mine unfortunately melted and leaked in transit but Carrie immediately offered to replace my products (the lip balm covered the Mystic Matte too). I declined as I was able to clean the Mystic with no troubles and pot lip balms aren't my favourite, I really appreciated the great customer service though! I'm not sure whether this lip balm formula is going ahead or not; it feels nice enough on the lips but it is substantially firmer than the Night Kiss balms, making it a bit trickier to pick up enough product to apply. I've been using it as a cuticle balm instead and like it much more for that purpose.

This installment's theme was based on a spirit, rather than an individual:
Kikimora is known as a house spirit in Slavic mythology. Thought to be one of the origins of the "Old Hag", a spirit that sits on your chest causing sleep paralysis. You may hear the spirit behind your stove or in the basement and she enters through key holes. You might want to make sure your house is in order or she'll break a few dishes.
Kikimora is described as 'a dark olive brown base with purple and pink shimmers with a blue sheen'. Okay, I know keep describing all of these as unique but seriously, look at this! It's such a far cry from the same six shades of red and pink we see pumped out from mainstream brands (I mean, I love those colours too, but it's nice to escape the sea of dupes sometimes). Kikimora's colour payoff is strong and it lasts for six hours on me. It would pair well with MAC Stone lip pencil if you want to bolster longevity.
