Woohoo, Darling Girl is officially BACK! The shop has reopened and my head is spinning as I try to decide what to order first. Matte eyeshadows are still topping my list, as are the Spectral Shift Lip Cremes but there's also a new Balm Gloss plus blushes that are calling my name... aargh! Is anything on your wishlist? Here's the latest five to make it out of my untrieds:
Product size:
Darling Girl's eyeshadows come in a few different sizing options: full sizes are packaged in 5g jars with approximately 3/4 tsp of product ($7USD). Petits are packaged in 3g jars with approximately 1/4 tsp of product ($3.25USD). You can also try a sample set, which includes 4 shades of your choosing in baggies, each containing 1/8th tsp for $5USD. I've gone down that route many times as you can get samples of any eyeshadows, Diamond Dusts, Spectral Shifts or loose blushes, excellent if you want a great cross section of colours and formulas to try!
Formula overview:
Darling Girl's eyeshadow formula is incredibly consistent. I've never come across a dud in the range; they are, on the whole, very pigmented and easy to work with. Some shades, especially the more glittery ones perform best over a sticky base but can certainly be used on their own.
Swatch notes:
All eyeshadow swatches in this post are done two ways: applied on bare skin on the left-hand side and over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, a sticky eyeshadow base which maximises colour intensity and sparkle, on the right. This is so you can see how they perform both ways. I take all of my photos with daylight bulbs for colour accuracy.

We Can't Kill People
We Can't Kill People (discontinued) is described as 'bronze with gold to green shift'. This rich metallic is basically autumn in a jar, the colour shift is strong and gives it so much dimension. It's also super pigmented even without a base. The only downside is that it was limited edition 😞
Possessed Princess
Possessed Princess (discontinued) is described as a 'chartreuse with gold sheen, purple shimmer and shifting blue-purple holo sparkle'. It was part of the Queens of Horror collection, which was sadly discontinued due to a technical mishap in which a bunch of Susan's formulas were lost. Curse you, technology! If you can get your hands on this in a destash, don't think twice, grab it! The colour payoff is great and the sparkles compliment the chartreuse perfectly. A must-have for green lovers.
Here, I've used Possessed Princess on the inner third lid/lower lashline, We Can't Kill People on the outer 2/3rds lid/lower lashline, Kilt-Y Pleasures (new version) on the crease, Ugly Naked Guy for the transition and Krampus on the inner corner. The lashes are these faux mink ones from Ebay in the style A19.
Equestrian Couture
Equestrian Couture (permanent) is described as 'a light dusty lavender with blue sheen and pink iridescence'. This is will be a hit with cool-tone lovers! It works best with a sticky base to bring the blue shimmer to life but it still makes an appearance when buffed out over a regular primer.
For this look, I've used Celebration on the outer third of the lid and outer 2/3rds of the lower lashline, Equestrian Couture on the inner third of the lower lashline, Always My Princess on the inner 2/3rds of the lid and inner corner, Bottoms Up on the crease and #breaktheinternet for the transition. The lashes are these faux mink ones from Ebay in the style A04.
We Only Have It Iced
We Only Have It Iced (permanent) is described as a 'taupe-brown base with icy blue sheen and silver and gold iridescence'. Ohhh, I do love a complex neutral. The base colour is quite warm, for a taupe, so the blue sheen makes for a striking combination. I really enjoy it and can't wait to use it again! The formula is smooth, blendable and pigmented on its own but a sticky base is needed to get the full effect.
Ferocious
Ferocious (discontinued) is a bright purple with strong blue shimmer. The base colour is slightly warm-toned but the blue shimmer turns it into a vibrant royal purple, just gorgeous. This was a past GWP so unfortunately isn't available anymore.
This lip look uses Mistress of Darkness Pucker Paint as the base, Ferocious on the outer edges (not lip approved), If You Were Here blended into the centre of the lips and a little bit of Corpse Candle Spectral Shift patted on the centre of the lips.
Here, I've used Ferocious on the outer half of the lid, We Only Have It Iced on the inner half of the lid and lower lashline, Corpse Candle Spectral Shift on the inner corner, Dim the Lights and #breaktheinternet for the transition and Afternoon Delight on the crease. The lashes are these faux mink ones from Ebay in the style A15.
