ColourPop To and From Lippie Stix Set Swatches & Review

My favourite of the three record kits that ColourPop released for the holidays was definitely (and predictably) the Lippie Stix set, To and From. It contained four repromotes and two brand new shades in a shade range from nude to grungy purple. It sold out quickly but fortunately, ColourPop has released all of the shades individually! I'm not sure how long they'll be around so if you love them, be sure to grab them quickly - after all, ColourPop are rather fond of springing Last Calls on us!

The records kits are large and very sturdy, I have to give ColourPop props for always putting a lot of effort into making their kit packaging beautiful and nigh-impossible to throw away. I have several that I need to find a use for because I just can't bear to throw them out! 

The Lippie Stix tubes were matte black for the set but the individual shades have been released in the usual glossy white. 

Formula Overview:
The Lippie Stix formula seems to be divisive among makeup lovers but personally, on the whole, I really enjoy it. This set definitely caters to matte lipstick lovers
The Matte X formula feels thicker and is more flat in finish than the regular Mattes. They glide across the lips easily, even if your lips aren't in the best shape and are generally richly pigmented, although the paler shades can be slightly patchier. The Mattes tend to have a little more sheen than a traditional matte lipstick but this can vary between colours.
In all finishes, some shades can be drying or clingy but I don't find it a drying formula overall.
The Lippie Stix have a gorgeous chocolate chip cookie scent but it's more muted in the Matte X formula; good news for those who dislike scented cosmetics!

Parker

Parker is described as a 'mid-tone warm nude' with a Matte finish. Parker is such a gorgeous nude shade for those of you with warm skin tones, with excellent colour payoff and smooth application. Parker wore for four and a half hours on me and while it didn't feel drying during the wear itself, my lips were a little flaky afterwards.
This was previously part of the Sundays in Silverlake set, which I reviewed here. I didn't notice any differences in formula or colour between the two releases.

Cami

Cami is described as a 'neutral mauve pink in a Matte X finish'. It's a bit of a chameleon and seems to look really nude-ish on some people - even on me, sometimes it looks much darker and other times it's the medium mauve you see in these pictures! You probably need it just to see how it turns out on you, LOL. Cami has great colour payoff and wears for four hours on me, becoming slightly clingy towards the end of wear.
This shade is part of the permanent range.

Baewatch

Baewatch is described as a 'matte dusty rose' in a Matte finish. It has excellent colour payoff and applied smoothly, with a solid six and a half hour wear time. After that, it was fairly faded and worn in the centre but a lot of the colour was still intact. I didn't find it drying, either. 

It was previously released in the Back To Cool set, which I don't have but I haven't seen any reports of colour variation. 

Pack Pack

Pack Pack is described as a 'deepened dirty plum' in a Matte X finish. I'm still undecided on whether I like this one on me! I found it a little more effort to even out than the other shades in this set but I got there in the end and it wore for seven hours, becoming slightly clingy over time. There was also some light staining.

Weekender

Weekender is described as a 'warm true red' in a Matte X finish. Ahhhhh, yes, this is more me! Weekender applies super smoothly with great colour payoff and wears for five and a half hours on me. It was a little clingy and had some fading to the centre of my lips by the end of the wear time. 

Tutu

Tutu is described as a 'blackened red violet in a Matte finish'. It's glossier than the other Mattes in this set and has a little more slip, causing it to be sheerer at the centre of my lips. The additional slip didn't cause any feathering or migration on me though, which was an unexpected and very happy surprise! Tutu lasted for eight hours on me and was slightly faded after seven.
It was previously released in the Forget the Fruitcake set (reviewed here) and I didn't notice any differences between the two releases.

What I liked:

• Great colour payoff
• Wear time was between four and eight hours
• No feathering or migration
• Most shades offered smooth, easy application

What I didn't like:

• Weekender, Cami and Pack Pack were clingy
• Pack Pack and Tutu took a bit more effort to apply evenly
