Colourpop In Bloom Set Swatches & Review

Because I'm a jerk, I never got round to posting about the Colourpop In Bloom collection when it was available. But since it's all swatched and ready, here it is - hopefully it pops up in blog sales or some of the colours return some day!

Colourpop In Bloom Set Swatches & Review

In Bloom contains two blushes, a highlighter and three lipsticks in a beautifully patterned box sleeve. A tray slides out with space to securely house each product; it's all very well made and makes the set seem far more luxurious than the modest price tag (it retailed for $39USD) would suggest.

First up, the cheek products: they're housed in screwtop white jars with clear inserts in the lids to show the colour inside.

The texture is much like the eyeshadow products, malleable and clay-like; if you press a finger to the surface it will dent, not spring back. ColourPop recommend applying their cheek products with fingers for fuller coverage, or with a flat synthetic shader brush or duo fiber brush for a sheerer finish. I like using ELF's duo fiber stipple brush for a really airbrushed effect.

Tongue Tied

Tongue Tied is described as a 'bright warm coral with a matte finish.' It's mostly matte but has very fine blue shimmer mixed through it - not enough to translate to skin, the shimmer really only shows up in direct light when swatched heavily. I found it easy to apply and blend and the wear time was decent at eight and a half hours.

Double Dip

Double Dip is described as a 'soft peach with subtle highlights with a satin pearl finish.' Oh man, this is so pretty and it was a great introduction to ColourPop's highlighters. It can be subtle or glowy as hell depending on the intensity of your application and seems to emphasise skin texture less than some powder highlighters I own. It lasted close to twelve hours on me in total but after seven hours it was looking somewhat faded.

Hysterical

Hysterical is described as a 'cool-toned plum pink with a matte finish.' Once blended out, it shows up as very pink on me, so I'll use a lighter hand next time! The colour pay off is great and it is pretty easy to blend out - on the whole though, I found Tongue Tied easier to work with. Hysterical wore for almost twelve hours, but as with Double Dip, looked faded after seven.

Next are the Lippie Stix, which are a product I've reviewed many times now and they remain a firm favourite.

The packaging for the Lippie Stix is a glossy white twist up slim tube with a slanted lip bullet. I really like the smaller surface area of this lipstick style as it allows a more precision than your traditional larger teardrop shaped bullet. Each lipstick has a coloured end cap which matches the colour inside as well as a label with the name and finish (eg satin, matte, glossy).

The Lippie Stix have a gorgeous chocolate chip cookie scent - it smells just like the Rainbowlicious Chocolate Chip scrub to my nose, which means I'm basically in heaven every time I pop the cap off one of these. SO good.

In this set, the colours are all in the cream formula which can be a bit hit or miss for me. Some of the colours feather on me, while others can bunch up on the inner part of my lips (SO annoying!). As usual though, the texture, colour pay off and application are great. All of them have a very subtle tackiness and a smooth, slightly creamy texture. They are pretty forgiving of flaws, good news for those who struggle to keep pesky lip flakes away! I didn't find any of the colours in this set drying.

Colourpop In Bloom Set - Sweet-Thing Lippie Stix Swatches & Review

Sweet-Thing is described as a 'cool-toned medium true pink with a cream finish.' It's not overly cool toned, just enough to make it a bit different to the warmer pinks I often favour. I love how fresh and pretty it is - the name 'Sweet-Thing' suits it perfectly on that count! It lasted for four and a half hours on me and left some light staining.

Frenemie is described as an 'electric warm-toned coral with a cream finish.' Electric is right - this sucker is BRIGHT! I absolutely love Frenemie and for that colour I'd forgive a lot, but I did experience bunching of product along my lips after three hours of wear. It lasted six and a half hours in total and stained strongly.

Colourpop In Bloom Set - Freshman Lippie Stix Swatches & Review

Freshman is described as a 'deep hot pink with a cream finish.' The final colour in the In Bloom set is the one I had the most trouble with as it feathered heavily, felt slightly goopy and bunched up on the inner lip as well. What a shame when the colour is so pretty! It lasted five hours on me and left a strong popsicle-pink stain.
