Hey lovelies,
Today I have a beautiful strawberry red lipstick to show you, one that is sure to be a hit with the ecologically minded shopper! This is Rymba Rhythm by Karen Murrell, whose tagline is 'Nothing nasty touches my lips'.
From the Karen Murrell website:
Eco-friendly packaging
Our lipstick canisters are made from PLA (polylactic acid), a corn resin based material that will start to dissolve back into Mother Earth within 100 days. It is also greenhouse gas neutral, helping minimise emissions that cause global warming.
The packaging of the KM range, with its original artwork, has been designed with sustainability at the forefront. The outer packaging is a 100% recyclable and renewable box made from New Zealand trees and printed with soya ink.
Karen Murrell's lipstick packaging is rather glamorous yet simple. 'Chic' sums it up nicely! Each shade of lipstick has its own cardboard sleeve design (a dangerous thing for the collector in me!), while the lipstick tube itself is a satin black with the name of the lipstick on a colour matched label.
Rymba Rhythm is described as a 'vibrant red'. It's a slightly muted strawberry red and is mostly opaque. You can see a hint of translucency in the sunlit swatch above, but in the window lit one below, it's much less visible. The window lit swatch and FOTD photos show the finish best, which I would describe as demi-matte - it's not the flat matte of a MAC Retro Matte for example, but doesn't have as much shine as a satin.
The lipstick has a sweet cinnamon scent, but doesn't burn or tingle the way some cinnamon infused lip products do (I've never found that pleasant, myself!). It is very comfortable to wear and wore easily for four hours without feathering, migrating, drying out my lips before partially wearing away with food. I'm always thrilled when I don't need to use lipliner to prevent a lipstick looking like a hot mess on me so I was really happy with Rymba Rhythm's performance!
What I liked:
- Even, buildable colour pay off
- Wears well for 4 hours without drying out lips, gathering, migrating or going patchy
- Does not feather or bleed
- Light cinnamon scent
- Easy on the conscience! The lipstick itself is made with natural ingredients and the packaging has been created with biodegradable materials from sustainable sources.
What I didn't like:
- No complaints here!
Where to buy:
- The Karen Murrell website
- Also available around New Zealand, Australia and Dubai - check the Stockists page for more info
Have you tried any Karen Murrell lipsticks? What did you think?
