ColourPop Super Shock Shadow - Puppy Love, Un and Birthday Boy Swatches & Review

Hot damn, these ColourPop Super Shock Shadows have been lingering in my drafts folder for so long that one has been released again! 😂 Yep, I'm only being mean by showing you discontinued things twice instead of thrice today!

Formula overview:
ColourPop's Super Shock Shadows have a malleable consistency like wet clay - should you press a finger into the eyeshadow you'll leave a hollow, it doesn't spring back or cling like a mousse, nor does it resist like a cream or powder. And of course, it's endlessly amusing to prod at! Because of the wetness of the formula, it is important to keep the lid tightly shut to prevent the product drying out. Even so, they have a fairly short official shelf life, with ColourPop advising that their eyeshadows will last three years unopened and a year after being opened (though I find this to be a very conservative statement, I've only had to rehydrate one of my Super Shock Shadows to date).

These eyeshadows are evenly pigmented, with varying degrees of opacity depending on the finish. I find them easy to blend out and while you can use brushes, I prefer patting the shimmery and glittery shades on with a finger as I find this helps the sparkle to adhere best. All of ColourPop's eyeshadows wear like iron on me, I can always rely on them to stay all day without creasing.

Puppy Love is described as a 'soft peach with a pink duochrome shift'. It's not the most unique duochrome out there buuuuut it is undeniably gorgeous and it's for a good cause, so I'm not even mad bro. I adore it. Application-wise, I can find no fault either, it's easy to blend and can be sheered out or built up readily. Best of all, it's currently available on the ColourPop site, with all proceeds from its sale going to NKLA.

I used Hot Tamale on the outer half of the lid and lower lashline for this look, along with Puppy Love on the inner half of the lid and inner corner, Bandit on the crease and Cornelious to blend out. The lashes are Ardell Demi Wispies.

Un (discontinued) is a sandy gold with copper and silver sparkles. It's from the Jenn Imm collection back in June 2016 (oops) and while beautiful, isn't unique enough to bend over backwards trying to track down, IMO. I mean, I'm glad I have it and all, but it's pretty dupable. Lovely formula, though.

For this look I used Vega on the inner half of the lid, Mooning on the outer half of the lid, To-A-Ton the crease and Un on the inner corner. I also used White from the LORAC Pro palette on the browbone, MAC Pro Longwear Waterproof Colour Stick in Frisky Blue on the waterline and Hello Waffle Cosmetics 16th on the lower lashline. The lashes are Nouveau Lashes Volume Style 1.

Birthday Boy (discontinued) was a GWP for ColourPop's second birthday. As is befitting ColourPop, it's a sparkle-laden complex neutral that sets my heart aflutter, especially in the close-ups! I definitely recommend using your fingertips to pat Birthday Boy on, in order to minimize fall-out during application (though once it's on, it's on, as is usually the case with ColourPop eyeshadows). I'm forever hopeful that Birthday Boy will make a triumphant return one day, the way Birthday Girl (now permanent) did.

For this look, I've used Birthday Boy all over the lid, Co-Pilot on the inner corner and the Lorac Pro palette for the rest. The lashes are Ardell 110s.
