Notoriously Morbid Eyeshadows - #basic, Bunnies Frighten Me, The Block Ness Monster, Bubble Popper and Gretel's Ghost Swatches & Review

New batch of Notoriously Morbid eyeshadows today! Huzzah! Four out of five are permanent so there's only the bare minimum of unattainable gorgeousness today, always a plus.

Packaging:
Notoriously Morbid have plenty of eyeshadow sizing options to suit everyone's preferences and budget. The mini-size ($2.75USD) has approx. 1/3 tsp of product in a 3g jar, the full size ($5.50USD) has approx. 1/2 to 3/4 tsp of product in a 5g jar and the deluxe size ($7.50USD) has approx. 1 to 1 1/4 tsp of product in a 10g jar. Personally, I always opt for the mini size, except where full size is the only option, as it's rare for me to finish an eyeshadow!

Formula overview:
I really enjoy Notoriously Morbid's eyeshadow formula. They're easy to work with, blend well, and are often completely unique to what's being put out by mainstream brands. Some shades, especially the more glittery ones perform best over a sticky base but can certainly be used on their own.

Swatch notes:
All eyeshadow swatches in this post are done two ways: applied on bare skin on the left-hand side and over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, a sticky eyeshadow base which maximises colour intensity and sparkle, on the right. This is so you can see how they perform both ways. I take all of my photos with daylight bulbs for colour accuracy.

#basic (discontinued) is a metallic gold with fine aqua sparkles and subtle pink sheen. It was a GWP during March of this year so unfortunately is no longer available but since Notoriously Morbid occasionally re-release stuff and I've done all the pictures for it, I'm including it in this post 😂The semi-loose formula is excellent as is but for a truly blinding metallic effect, a sticky base is the way to go.

Here, I've used Neutered on the crease, She's Got Gidget Hair to blend out, So Goes My Nation on the browbone, This Is How You Die on the outer half of the lid, Kompanion No 9 on the inner half of the lid, Crybaby on the inner corner and #basic on the lower lashline. The faux mink lashes are from Ebay in the style A19.

Bunnies Frighten Me (permanent) is described as a 'white base with a super strong red duo and red and purple sparkles.' This is one of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer themed Slay Me alternative finish shades and it's inspired by Anya, one of my favourite characters. I remember scrawling the lyrics to 'It Must Be Bunnies' in the margins of my exercise book in French in high school ('not thinking about class, cause that'd never happen'), it still cracks me up. Carrie wasn't kidding about the strong red duochrome, you can see how intense it is whether buffed out or patted on in the look below. I highly recommend it!

The Block Ness Monster (permanent) is described as a 'cream base with a gold sheen and green, pink and silver sparkles'. Block Ness Monster comes from the ongoing State of Fear series.

Bubble Popper (permanent) is described as a 'super metallic champagne with ice blue sparkles.' This is a rereleased old NM shade in the semi-loose formula, which contains binding ingredients to make it more vivid and metallic than the regular formula, even without a base. Over a sticky base, the silver shimmer and blue sparkles in Bubble Popper pull it more towards a silvery taupe but the subtle warmth of the champagne base colour still shows through. It's a beautiful, complex shade that should work on many complexions.

Gretel's Ghost (permanent) is described as a 'warm gingerbread brown'. As with Bubble Popper, its companion in the Retro collection, the semi-loose formula is superb; richly pigmented and easy to blend. I used a sticky base (Notoriously Morbid Shadow Bind) on the lids in the look below, but nothing on the lower lashline and you can see that Gretel's Ghost is just as brightly metallic.
