MAC Monday: Venomous Villains - Revenge is Sweet and Hot House Lipglass Swatches & Review

Few MAC collections have remained as popular and coveted among MAC addicts as Venomous Villains (2010) with many of the products being unicorns to collectors - elusive, hard to find but beautiful enough to be worth the wait.
The Lipglasses tend to be among the easiest and cheapest items to find, so I thought I'd show you some of them today.

The packaging is obviously the major drawcard for this collection, emblazoned with images of some of Disney's most well known villains. Maleficent was always my favourite! The outer sleeves have sketched illustrations of the characters in the colour of their overall theme and colour coordinated interior packaging. MAC's lipglasses have a small doesfoot applicator which is very easy to use.

MAC Lipglasses have a moderately thick and tacky texture which helps them to have a generally decent wear time - typically I get between three to five hours from them, depending on the colour. If you don't mind the stickiness, they're well worth checking out as there are some beautiful colours in the line up, but I know the texture can definitely be a deal breaker for some. Like most of MAC's lip products, Lipglasses have a vanilla scent and they are typically hydrating.

Hot House is a deep raspberry pink with pink pearl. It originally launched in the Strange Hybrid collection in 2007, and I sincerely hope it makes a return some day because it is one of the best MAC lipglasses I have used, perfectly balancing opacity and shimmer with a formula that doesn't feather. It wears for three hours on me and is hydrating. Next time I wear it I'll probably layer it over a coordinating lip pencil to bolster the wear time, but I love that it doesn't need any help in the colour pay off stakes.

Revenge is Sweet is described as a 'light yellow purple'. It's a warm fuchsia-purple with sheer but even colour pay off and fine, sparse shimmer. It wears for just under three hours and is nicely hydrating. Very fresh and pretty!

  • Even colour pay off
  • Hot House is very opaque
