MAC MONDAY | Maleficent - True Love's Kiss Lipstick Swatches & Review

I'm finding it hard to believe that the MAC Maleficent collection was released three years ago last month. I mean, seriously?! Where have the last three years gone? It feels way more recent than that to me. But facts are facts, so let's take a look at my sole pick from this collection. MAC X Maleficent was a very small release to promote the movie of the same name. There was a Sculpting Powder, a Beauty Powder, an eyeshadow quad, brow pencil, lashes, Penultimate Liner, Prep + Prime Highlighter, a trio of nail lacquers and all the makings of the perfect red lip: gloss, lipstick and lip liner. Most of the collection was repromoted from the permanent range and honestly on the yawn-worthy side, so being a sucker for both red lipstick and limited edition packaging, I stuck with the lipstick.

I quite liked the Maleficent movie, she was always one of my favourite Disney villains and I enjoyed the reimagining and back story. Her wings, a key part of the retelling, are subtlely printed on the tube with the Maleficent logo.

True Love’s Kiss is described as a 'clean bright red' and has an Amplified finish. Amplifieds can be hit or miss on me as the colour intensity combined with the glossy formula can often culminate in a feathery mess but this wasn't the case with True Love's Kiss. I spotted a very minuscule amount of feathering along my lower lip line when I looked closely in the mirror but it wasn't something anyone else would have noticed (frankly, I'd be unnerved by anyone else looking that closely!). It applied smoothly with just the right amount of slip and lasted five hours on me. I'm so pleased to have a semi-glossy red that works for me!
