Some of the shades reviewed below are permanent, while others are discontinued, so I'll note their availability with each review.
Darling Girl's eyeshadows come in a few different sizing options: full sizes are packaged in 5g jars with approximately 3/4 tsp of product ($6USD). Petits are packaged in 3g jars with approximately 1/4 tsp of product ($2.50USD). You can also try a sample set, which includes 4 shades of your choosing in baggies, each containing 1/8th tsp for $5USD. I've gone down that route many times as you can get samples of any eyeshadows, Diamond Dusts, Spectral Shifts or loose blushes, excellent if you want a great cross section of colours and formulas to try!
Formula overview:
Darling Girl's eyeshadow formula is incredibly consistent. I've never come across a dud in the range (and like I said, I've accumulated an embarrassing amount); they are, on the whole, very pigmented and easy to work with. Some shades, especially the more glittery ones perform best over a sticky base but can certainly be used on their own.
Swatch notes:
All eyeshadow swatches in this post are done two ways: applied on bare skin on the left hand side and over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, a sticky eyeshadow base which maximises colour intensity and sparkle, on the right. This is so you can see how they perform both ways. I take all of my photos with daylight bulbs for colour accuracy.

Donger Need Food
Donger Need Food (discontinued) is described as a 'soft milk chocolate with a strong green shift'. The base colour combined with the green shimmer makes it pull antique gold on me overall, a bit like a softer version of MAC Old Gold pigment. I'm so glad I picked this one up before it was discontinued, I really love it! Donger Need Food was part of the Sweet Sixteen collection (inspired by Sixteen Candles) which was just discontinued last month.
For this look I used Donger Need Food on the inner half of the lid, Baby Groot on the outer half of the lid, Dream Within A Dream on the inner corner, Occupation... Dinosaurs on the lower lashline and #breaktheinternet on the crease. The lashes are these ones from Born Pretty Store.
The Apocalypse... Not
The Apocalypse... Not (discontinued) is a dark antique gold with a medium brown base and silver shimmer. It was part of the My Three Witches collection which was inspired by the TV show Charmed and discontinued last year. Excellent colour pay off on its own, but it truly comes to life over a sticky base. I hope Susan makes more colours like this.
I've used The Apocalypse... Not on the outer half of the lid here, with He Skewered Kim on the inner half of the lid, We're Not Sheep to highlight and I'm Not Finished on the crease and lower lashline. The false eyelashes are Ardell Accent 315s.
Impervious
Impervious (discontinued) is a smokey taupe with green shimmer that shows more teal over a sticky base. I'm not really sure when this was discontinued as I bought it so long ago - it was in my very first Darling Girl order in March 2014! Impervious is such an interesting colour with a great formula and I'm really glad I have my wee sample bag.
I used Impervious on the inner and outer thirds of the lid here for a subtle halo eye, with Jaycee Boo Who on the middle. Morbid Angel Spectral Shift is on the inner corner, Triple Dog Dare on the lower lashline and Slave For Sensation and Kilt-Y Pleasures are on the crease/transition. These lashes from Born Pretty Store are some of my favourites at the moment!
There Is No Dana
There Is No Dana (permanent) is a 'bright copper with a gold shift and sparkles'. It comes from the Who Ya Gonna Call collection, inspired by Ghostbusters. It's beautifully pigmented both dry and over a base, but positively molten over a sticky base - check out how metallic it is on my lids in the look below! Highly recommend this one if you love copper eyeshadow.
This look uses There Is No Dana on the lid and lower lashline, Smells Like Feet on the inner part of the lid, the LORAC Pro Palette for crease & blending and Estee Lauder Cheeky Pink on the inner corner. The lashes are Ardell Accent 301s.
Love's A Witch
Love's A Witch (discontinued) is a warm russet brown with purple shimmer, giving it an interesting cool overlay. It was part of the My Three Witches collection alongside The Apocalypse... Not and has an excellent, well pigmented formula.
I've used Love's A Witch all over the lid here with Dancing in the Snow in the inner corner, Backroom Striptease on the inner third of the lower lashline, MAC Tonight's the Night Colourdrenched Pigment on the outer two thirds of lower lashline and MAC Evening Aura on the inner part of the lid. Fave Born Pretty Store lashes again!
