I hope you enjoyed my previous bridesmaids makeup post. Today I'll be showing you another of my bridesmaids, Amy, and the slightly different tones we've chosen to compliment her colouring.

We're blending some classic fifties glamour with a beachy bohemian vibe which translates more with the dress, shoes and hair accessories (though you'll have to wait to see those!). The makeup is intended to mirror that, with matte red lips, fluttery lashes, glowing cheeks and skin and golden tones on the eyes. As we're having the wedding on Great Barrier Island, everything needs to be long wearing, capable of withstanding the heat, lots of wine and good food and perhaps even a few tears.

For a medium-full coverage base, we've opted for MAC Matchmaster Concealer (4) and Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup (8), first prepping skin with MAC Strobe Cream (6) and ELF Mineral Infused Primer in Clear (16). With fuller coverage comes the need to add dimension back in though, so we're contouring lightly with Sleek, a matte brown eyeshadow from TheBalm's Nude 'Tude palette (3) before warming up Amy's hairline and cheeks with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Dark Deep (10). MAC Prolongwear Blush in Make You Mine (2) is the perfect coral shade to make Amy's skin absolutely glow.

Finally we'll highlight Amy's cheekbones with Kiko Water Eyeshadow #208 (apparently a dupe for the much coveted and discontinued MAC Extradimension Skinfinish in Whisper of Gilt) (18) before setting everything in place with TheBodyNeeds Transparent Finishing Powder (15) and Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray (17) for good measure.

EYES

Covergirl Shadowblast - Beige Blaze

LORAC Pro Palette - Cream all over lid, Sable in crease, Espresso to deepen (1)

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette - Half Baked all over lid, Foxy to blend out, Bootycall to highlight (19)

We need Amy's eyeshadow to last all night so we're going for a double whammy of primer (Covergirl Shadowblast in Beige Blaze is an unfortunately discontinued two in one eyeshadow & primer that I've had great success with over the past few years) and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, a sticky base that holds onto shadows like nobody's business. It doesn't perform well with mattes and isn't a primer in itself though, so we first need to lay down a wash of Cream from the LORAC Pro palette (1) before going in with Sable and Espresso to define the socketline. A tiny dab of Pixie Epoxy spread out on the lid is all we need to make Half Baked from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette (19) look more vibrant and keep it in place all day. Foxy and Bootycall from the same palette soften any harsh edges and highlight. 

Keeping up with the retro vibe, a slash of liquid eyeliner - ZA's pen style in BK999 Real Black, which will last all day even in the Barrier heat - and Ardell Accent #318 lashes (11) give a fluttery but not overdone look. We've used half lashes on Amy because she can't tolerate the feeling of a full lash band. The half lashes however are much more lightweight. We'll use Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara to blend Amy's lashes with the falsies because it curls and defines easily and is budge proof, effortlessly lasting through sweat and tears (blood not yet tested. If we happen to have it with us in the apocalypse, we'll let you know how it goes).

BROWS

ZA Brow Liner GY951 Natural Grey* (13)

MAC Clear Brow Set

Simple and sweet here, ZA Brow Liners are waterproof and budge proof and GY951 Natural Grey is dark enough to match Amy's eyebrows, but soft enough in colour that it doesn't look harsh. MAC Clear Brow Set tames any unruly hairs. 

LIPS

Covergirl Lip Perfection Lip Liner - Passion (12)

Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream - NY-CEE (14)

For the perfect red lip, we're pairing Covergirl Lip Perfection lip liner in Passion with Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream in NY-CEE. NY-CEE doesn't need a lip liner to prevent feathering but it can take a little more effort than we'll have time for on the wedding day to apply precisely. By lining and partially filling in lips with the Covergirl liner (which as a bonus boosts longevity) we can cheat a bit by using to get the perfect lip shape, then filling them in with the Velourlips. NY-CEE is one of my favourite Velourlips shades because it's gorgeous and has one of the best formulas of the bunch! You can check out my full review here.

NAILS
Pretty Serious - Dangerous Curves Ahead (9)

The finishing touch is this dusty pink, which will be stamped or dotted with white polka dots to match the other bridesmaids' dresses.
