This is Lushoween, this is Lushoween! What a month it's been, Halloween was last night and I can't believe how quickly it crept up on me. We didn't get to go out for it this year as my six-year-old had grommet surgery today and had to fast for that, while my three-year-old is still recovering from a nasty viral infection. And while I'm sure my eight-month-old would have loved to get her hands (and face and clothes and maybe some of it might actually end up in her mouth at some point) on some Halloween candy, I suspect it might not be the best idea ever.
We were still able to get into the Halloween spirit though, with these Lush goodies that are perfect for creating spooky fun at bath time! As is often the case with Lush's seasonal collections, there's a mixture of returning favourites and new faces in this year's range; Lush NZ was kind enough to send me a selection to show you.
Pumpkin Bath Bomb ($8.90) is one of my faves, I loved it last year and I'm so glad it's back this year. This grinning guy is beautiful in its simplicity, turning your bathwater a bright orange with a strong, sweet fragrance of pumpkin spice. It's also lustre-free if sparkle's not your bag.

Is this not the cutest little face you've ever seen? I was so excited when I pulled this out of our parcel! Bewitched Bubble Bar ($10.90) is scented with blackberry, bergamot and olibanum, with the blackberry note dominating the fragrance. It creates a spooky, inky black bath with sparkles, like bathing in the night sky. I hope this returns next year!
Ectoplasm Jelly Bomb ($9.90) is a new product that I was excited for but it ended up falling a bit flat. In addition to the usual fizzy bath bomb goodness, Ectoplasm contains gooey jelly that is released as the bath bomb fizzes away. A very cool idea in theory but in the case of our one, the jelly clung to and hardened sections of the bomb, preventing them from fully dissolving. We had to crush up these chunks as best as we could but it was a lot of effort with inevitable wasted product as we found lots of undissolved bits at the bottom of the tub after the bath was over. I enjoyed the tangerine and grapefruit scent but not enough to try this one again. I would still consider trying one of the other new Jelly Bombs as the seaweed extract used to make the jelly feels lovely and hydrating on skin and I'm hopeful that Lush have further perfected this product.

Lord of Misrule Bath Bomb ($8.90) is always a staple of the Halloween collection, alongside the matching Shower Cream and has become one of our favourites over the years. They share a heady patchouli and black pepper fragrance with a hint of vanilla that won even my stubborn hubby over - so much so that he's been through three bottles of the Shower Cream over the last year! This year I'll be stocking up for sure as we only got a 100g bottle in last year's range and then grabbed additional bottles in the Buy & Sell Lush NZ Facebook group as they popped up. The bath bomb puts on a great show in the bath, sending out streams of green and magenta foam until the bath winter is tinted a rich wine hue. Just gorgeous.

Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar ($9.90) is another returning favourite. We missed it last year as it didn't seem to get a very wide release but purchased it the year before and it's just as good as we remember! Be prepared for gold sparkles to get on EVERYTHING though, Sparkly Pumpkin will well and truly give you the Midas touch. My kids love the sparkles and the lime and grapefruit scent.
Accompanying Sparkly Pumpkin this year is the new Pink Pumpkin Bubble Bar ($9.90), a girly confection fragranced with jasmine, geranium and bergamot. Truth be told, this scent wasn't my cup of tea but the boys enjoyed it and even half a bar produced an impressive amount of bubbles.
Magic Wand Soap ($8.50/100g) is another one that I enjoyed last year and it continues the citrus theme with its bright, cheery tangerine and orange scent. It lathers nicely and cleanses my skin well without leaving it feeling stripped.
Last but certainly not least is the fan favourite Goth Fairy Shimmer Bar ($12.90). It's petite but potent, leaving shimmer wherever it goes and a luscious scent described as 'almond, grapefruit and bergamot' - but mostly, it smells like lollies to me! Perfect for highlighting summer skin.
Halloween may be over but all of these products and more are still available on the Lush NZ website. Have you tried any of them?
