I love Darling Girl's Balm Glosses, they're one of my favourite lipgloss formulas out there - certainly unparalleled when it comes to non-stickiness and epic colour payoff. Late last year, Susan released some new colours and I was understandably excited, especially with the inclusion of Cake, a warm nude with red shimmer - just the kind of nude with a twist I like! I think there were eight new shades in all, but in the interest of not sending myself broke, I stuck to two: Cake and Casket Girls.
Formula overview:
The Balm Gloss formula is thin, smooth, non-sticky and lightweight. As you might expect from the name, it does indeed have a balmy feel and is hydrating to boot. The scent is lovely - a little fruity and lightly sweet without being cloying.
The Liquid Kiss Luxe Balm Glosses are packaged in a 3ml click pen with a pointed brush applicator. As is pretty standard with this type of gloss delivery system, you have to twist the base many times before the first bit of product appears, but the brush is quite nice for applying colour smoothly and precisely - I applied the lip swatches neat from the tube.

Cake
Cake is described as a 'nude pinky beige with red pearl'. The pearl shimmer is on the crimson side of red, almost fuchsia, it's really pretty. I love the Balm Glosses and I love nude lippies so you can bet I'm all over this! The shimmer is just the cherry on top of a winning formula for me. I found Cake easy to apply evenly and the formula allows for it to be sheered out or built up without any goopiness or colour shifting. It lasted four hours on me.
Casket Girls
Casket Girls is a 'berry red with strong green pearl'. It's a gorgeous colour any time of the year but I've been reaching for it even more often now that the weather is warming up! It's semi-opaque with fairly even coverage and it doesn't feather during wear. The green pearl is the star of the show here, I like how much interest it adds to the shade while still keeping it inherently wearable. Casket Girls lasted four hours on me.
PS. If you, too, were curious about the name 'Casket Girls', here's an interesting read that explains who and what the Casket Girls were!
